Abstract
The present study deals with the Eocene biostratigraphy of the salt range based upon the alveolinid assemblage. This is the first study of its kind which involves the detailed taxonomic study of the alveolinids and their biostratigraphic significance in the light of the present day knowledge of this group and importance in the international zonal biostraphic framework applicable to the shallow marine deposits.
According to our data "Shallow benthic Biozonation (SB)" are established from SB5 to SB9 for the Eocene succession of the salt range and early Eocene age was assigned to the upper part of the patala formation in trans-indus salt range. Total twelve species of alveolinids two including two species of Glomalveolina, one new species Alveolina conradi and one new bub-species Alveolina rotundata bhadrarensis were recorded. This study also showed that Alveolina cucumiformis Hottinger , 1960 is a synonom of Alveolina vredenburigi DAVIES. 1937.
