Abstract
About 1000 square miles of northern mountainous area of West Pakistan lying mainly within the Hazara District, were remapped on a scale of 1€ to a mile. That resulted in the through revision of stratigraphy of that region and, and a regrouping of rock sequence is suggested. Number of mappable units are also increased to 21, divided into 6 groups and 19 formations. Correlation with the surrounding regions is particularly stressed. Fauna have been identified and profusely illustrated. Facies and thickness variation have been studies in other order to reconstruct the basin structure.
Elementary account of structure of the area is attempted and the structural pattern of rock deformation is illustrated in 5 sections, drawn, more or less, across the strike.
Economic possibilities of the area, though rather poor, are outlined.
